Database Administration and Monitoring in SAP System


DB02
The Tables and Indexes Monitor (transaction DB02) for monitoring
of the storage behavior of the database (for example space statistics
showing the history of the database, or size and free space in each
tablespace) and the status of the database objects (for example size of
each table in kilobytes and blocks, or indexes that are defined in the
ABAP Dictionary but missing in the database). The storage monitoring
functionality of transaction DB02 is covered in lesson Database System
Check, the performance functionality is covered in course ADM506 -
Database Administration II.


DB12
TheBackup Logs Overview (transaction DB12) to view backup results,
the status of the archive directory and a recovery report checking if all
backups are available to perform a restore and recovery. DB12 is covered
in lesson Performing Backups and Restore and Recovery

DB13
TheDBA Planning Calendar (transaction DB13) for scheduling backups
and other administrative jobs in your database system. There is also a
central DBA Planing Calendar available (transaction DB13C, you can use
this transaction to schedule backups and administrativ activities centrally
for several SAP systems and databases.
DB14
TheDBA Operations Monitor (transaction DB14) for checking the
status and logs of all database operations, including backup monitoring,
updates of the optimizer statistics, and database checks.
DB16
TheOverview of Database Checks (transaction DB16) which is covered
in Lesson Database System Check
DB17
Transaction DB17 to view and maintain check conditions for the
database system check, covered as well in Lesson Database System Check

DB20
Transactions DB20 (Maintain Statistics) and DB21 (Configuration of
Statistics). These transactions are covered in course ADM506 - Database
Administration Oracle II.
DB21

DB26
TheDatabase Parameter Overview with History (transaction DB26), see
lesson Administration of Oracle Instances for details.

ST04
TheDatabase Performance Monitor (transaction ST04) for displaying
the most important indicators for Oracle database performance, such
as buffer cache quality, statistics of user calls or number of block reads
per SQL statement, and the configuration of the database management
system and the database, either directly through showing current
parameter values or with help of V$ views.

RZ20
TheDatabase Alert Monitor (can be started from transaction RZ20) for
monitoring all preset alerts for different areas of the database. For details
